Siuslaw Elementary School Oil Painting Classes
Left, Weldon Oliver receiving a grant check of $4000 from Western Lane Community Foundation. This donation will be used to teach oil painting classes to Siuslaw Elementary grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th during April & May of 2008 for a total of 300 children. The money will purchase art supplies.
The 12" x 16" painting boards were locally produced by W. G. Peterson and prepared by Helping Hands for painting. Each board was taped along the borders with painter's tape to leave a finished look to the painting ready for hanging. A total of 600 paintings were finished by Siuslaw Elementary School.
Helping Hands for the Arts, Inc. is a registered not-for-profit corporation dedicated to bringing art education to children and adults. Currently we offer oil painting for beginning children and adults. Private lessons and public events can also be scheduled.
Applegate Gallery
Weldon Oliver teaches his classes to oil painters at Applegate Gallery in Veneta, OR. Students learn to structure their own work under instruction. Scholarships are available from Helping Hands for those who need help affording classes. Scholarships are given on a case by case basis. Contact Helping Hands for more information.
Lebanon, Oregon
The first oil painting class was taught at the Mennoninte school and it is hoped we will continue next year. Weldon Oliver teaches other classes in Lebanon and scholarships are available.

Stellar Academy for Dyslexics
Helping Hands for the Arts, Inc. offers instruction in art programs and schools in Oregon and parts of California. We are looking forward to teaching more students and adults oil painting this summer. The two classes will be held on July 17th and 18th at the Stellar Academy in Fremont, California.
